In 1914/15 Army considered the purchase of experimental midget submarine Lolico for use on Gardasee, but on 15 Sep 1915 decided against it.

Aldo Fraccaroli (1970) records Italian motor boats MAS 10, 12, 17, 20 and 203 and seven Italian armed merchant boats serving on Gardasee, although not necessarily simultaneously.
